Chester Bennington und sein neues Band-Projekt

Endlich ist die Zeit reif für Chester Bennington, mit seinem Nebenprojekt DEAD BY SUNRISE rauszurücken. Die Stimme ist von Linkin Park bekannt. Jetzt tritt der Leadsänger also mit “Out Of Ashes” aus dem Schatten der mehrfach Award-gekrönten Erfolgsband heraus.

Schon im Jahr 2005 begann die Geschichte von Benningtons Soloprojekt in einer Schaffenspause von Linkin Park. Während der Aufnahmen für das Erfolgs-Album “Minutes To Midnight” und der darauffolgenden Tour lag das Soloprojekt erstmal auf Eis. Und hatte vier Jahre Zeit nebenher zu reifen und sich zu einem Bandprojekt auszuwachsen: Zusammen mit Ryan Shuck und Amir Derakh, Ex-Orgy- und derzeit Julien K-Mitglieder, Brandon Belsky, Elias Andra und Anthony “FU” Valcic.

…Eine Zeit, die von Trennungs- und Drogenkrisen geprägt war. “Mein Leben fiel auseinander, also schrieb ich über meine Scheidung, ein Prozess, der mich tief in den Alkohol und andere Drogen gezogen hat”, so Bennington. Songs wie “Let Down” und das harte “Inside Of Me” dokumentieren das, wenn er singt: “What the hell is wrong with me/This isn’t who I’m supposed to be”.

Aber an keiner Stelle wird seine Pein klarer als in der explosiven Lead-Single “Crawl Back In”, auf der Bennington seinen Kampf gegen die Sucht mitteilt. “Der Song kommt aus dem Abscheu, den du empfindest, wenn du dich abhängig fühlst.”

Aber was sagen die Jungs von Linkin Park zu seinem Seele-schürfenden Nebenprojekt? “Jeder bei Linkin Park hat mich bei der Idee dieses Album unterstützt,” betont Cheester. “Wir stehen einander sehr nahe und sind sehr offen miteinander. Wenn die Jungs sich darum gesorgt hätten, dass es der Band schaden würde oder uns davon abhalten würde, ein weiteres großartiges Album zu machen, hätten sie es mir gesagt und ich hätte das Album nicht veröffentlicht.” Das klingt jedenfalls nicht nach einem drohenden Split…Können wir also beruhigt sein!
